In addition to our regular trail crews, which handle the larger more complicated jobs involving trail building and restoration, we field Support crews, overseen by Chiefs and leaders, to handle less complicated work including trail clearing, blazing, some simple water controls, etc., which may be beyond our regular maintainers but not as complicated as the work regular crews handle. These Support crews are dependent on individuals who can volunteer when they have time free on weekends or weekdays. We have active crews on the Shawangunk Ridge, on the Appalachian Trail, along the Kittatinny Mountains as well as in the NYC metropolitan, Harriman S. P. and north N. J. areas.  Work trips frequently appear on short notice, so bookmark this page and return to it when you have spare time and see if there is a project you’d like to help with.

The Trail Conference trail crews are made up of volunteers dedicated to the construction and rehabilitation of foot trails in the Southern New York and Northern New Jersey area. Volunteers must become members of the Conference to participate in these projects. A one time "guest" participation is allowed.

If you would like to volunteer for any of the below projects please contact the listed leader for information on meeting times and places.

For all trips bring work gloves, water, lunch and friends. TBA = To be announced

Many trips have meeting places accessible to public transportation. If you are coming by train, be sure to let the leader know so that we wait for the train.

Many small projects can be completed by 2-3 people, sometimes in a few hours. Check our main Trail Crew/Special Projects page, or the Calendar, for the most up-to-date information
